In Memory of Alan Kutz, Lifetime Member & Past Commodore
It is with a heavy heart that we announced that Alan Kutz, a lifetime member and Past Commodore in ‘92/‘93, crossed over the bar peacefully on May 25, 2021 at the age of 94.
Alan and his four siblings had a wonderful childhood “messing” about in boats and living the island life. At the young age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and was stationed in the cold and sometime perilous seas of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.
Alan married his high school sweetheart, Janice Morgan, and together they had two children, Alan Jr and Jeff. After graduating from the University of Washington, he started his business career at the American Tar Company in Seattle, eventually purchasing the company, where he was able to further develop the company and its products. Several years after Janice passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, Alan remarried to Marilyn Young Nevan.
Alan was blessed to retire early in his fifties and took full advantage of his hard-earned retirement, living life to its fullest, spending time with family, boating, gardening and working on his various houses. When people talk to you about Alan, they will speak about his tireless work ethic and how happy he was when he was working.
Alan touched many people thorough his long journey and will be missed by all who knew him. |
