Meet Your New Board

KCYC Flag Officers for the 2019-2020 Year

Ken D

Commodore
Ken Dalgleish

Ken is a proven global business leader with strong overall management skills, expertise in general management, program management, and strategic change programs.  He is a quick study, excellent thinker, and believes in team outcomes.  Two years ago, he was key in the successful implementation of Kingston Cove Almost Summer Festival as he and Sandi managed the entire ground operations of the festival.  As Vice Commodore he was instrumental in the development of the strategic plan and the Phase 1 & 2 implementations of said plan.  As Commodore, he views his role as a servant to KCYC to continue building on the successes of the first 50 years and move the club forward in conjunction with the strategic plan.  He is family first, an experienced boater, a winemaker and current President of the Cliffside Beach HOA.

Rear Commodore
Jerry Andrews

Hi, I'm the other Jerry, and I approved this message:  I've been a sailor since I was 14 or so, and have been active in the Puget Sound Cruising Club and the Seattle Corinthian Yacht Club since we moved to the PNW in 2013, serving as a cruise leader on many events, and as Commodore of the PSCC a few years back. When we moved to Kingston a year ago last July, we promptly joined our local club--the Kingston Cove Yacht Club, as befits any good sailor in a new home port, and we've been active ever since. Two months after joining, I volunteered to serve as Volunteer Coordinator, and have been doing that as well as volunteering myself, since that time. As Rear Commodore, I expect to cut a dashing figure in dress whites, as well as continuing the improvements in bar service and administration we have been discussing over the past several months. As an experienced yacht club board member, I hope I have some relevant experience to bring to the new board, as well as the enthusiasm of the newly-joined.

Secretary Diane Nuñez

I am currently retired. My career for over 45 years was in the field of education.  I spent 34 of those years as District and Regional management of private early childhood and elementary schools.  From 1995 to 2007 my husband and I were active members of KCYC enjoying cruising and social events. After my husband's passing in 2015, I rejoined KCYC and have been actively involved as 2018-19 Secretary and Committee Coordinator for Celebrate 50. If elected to the Secretary position for another term, my plans are to improve members' experience using the new KCYC website and New Member Orientation.

Trustee
Rick Eveleth

I was born and raised in Hawaii, and after graduating from Oregon State University, I returned to Hawaii, and spent my career as a management employee for the sugar industry. After retirement from the sugar industry, I traveled to many third world countries to consult on various methods of agriculture.

Moving to Kingston has given me the opportunity to serve my community as a volunteer, and I am presently on four Boards. These are the Historical Society, The Kingston Public Market, Sail Kingston Cove and Kiwanis.

I have been a member of KCYC for several years as a non boater, and served twice as Chairman of the Nominating Committee, as well as volunteering for many events and activities for the Club. I recently acquired a Catalina 27 sailboat, and I am looking forward to expanding my participation in the boating activities of the club.

If elected to the position of Trustee for the Club, I will serve pursuant to the by-laws, and I will continue to be an active and involved member of the Board and the membership.

Past Commodore
Nancy Langwith

Vice Commodore
Art Hammon

My family moved here in 1947 and I am a third generation resident of Kingston. I have worked for the Department of Defense as a Marine Machinery Mechanic for the past 12 years.  I joined KCYC in 1998 when I was 26, I moved away for a few years and rejoined in 2011. When I returned to the club I was proud to  served on the board as Rear Commodore. I look forward to the upcoming year and once again having the opportunity to serve the KCYC community.

Fleet Captain
Sandi Dalgleish

Sandi is a proven business leader with strong overall management skills and expertise in project management and organizational development.  As demonstrated in her role as Fleet Captain during this past year where we had strong turnout for each cruise, she has the organizational and communication skills, cruising experience and creativity to plan and execute an exciting cruising year.

During her tenure this past year, she implemented a Cruise Captain role coupled with a Co-cruise Captain to more thoroughly engage others.  She has also recently implemented a Boating Committee who will prepare a recommended cruise plan for the incoming Fleet Captain.  Both of these actions will help to alleviate the pressure on the Fleet Captain role.  With these improvements, she plans to find time to focus on ways in which we can better engage small boat owners and non-boater owners in the cruise plans and activities. But perhaps most importantly, she has a proven ability to just have fun.

Treasurer
Jack Lott

A long time resident of Kingston, buying property here in 1984, I and my wife Robin have built 3 homes on Gamble Bay.  As a boater from early childhood, I sailed to Seattle in 1980 from San Francisco to enjoy the beauty and opportunities the greater Puget Sound had to offer.  Lucky enough to find Robin in 1982, we were married in 1983, we agreed to share skills, she teaching me how to downhill ski, and I teaching her how to sail.  Still a work in progress, she consistently outdoes me on the hill, and I her on the water.  We were looking for a connection to the boating community here, joining KCYC in 2012.   As with many new members, it took a little while to get connected, but now enjoy a great group of friends, often vacationing together, and always looking for ways to get out on the water, and to offer a helping hand in club activities.

Besides boating, I enjoy wood working, a bit of gardening, although my tomatoes never seem to get ripe early enough, winter skiing, and traveling.

I held the position as Rear Commodore in 2017-18 and as treasurer in 2018-19.  With the many changes the Club is embarking on in the way of e-commerce and modernization of our financial management tools, I feel the best value I can offer the club at this time is to continue as treasurer for the next Board term.
